Indian Railway Cares : Yes we can say it proudly now. According to the new announcement Indian Railway is ready with a New Insurance Scheme (OPTIONAL) for All Passengers with a Valid Reserved Ticket of All Class. Now it has came up to a final agreement with Indian Railways and IRCTC that Rs 10 Lakh Insurance Cover will be provided to the Passengers on a mere Premium of Rs 20 only in case of Death/Permanent Disability Due to a Train Accident.

According to the said scheme A Sum Up to Rs 10 Lakh is proposed to be provided in case of Death or Permanent Disability, whereas Up to Rs 7.5 Lakh is proposed in case of Partial Disability and A Sum Up to Rs 5 Lakh has to be provided for Hospitalization to the Seriously Injured Passengers Due to a Train Accident. The validity of the scheme is limited from the Actual Departure to the Actual Arrival of the Train. 

It would be the One-Time Insurance Coverage Scheme and shall be available for those Passengers only who have opted for the scheme at the time of booking of their e-ticket. After reading this news someone gave a remark with exclamation....What Railway wants to be Bankrupt....??? That might be a commercial viewpoint. But, If we see it with a humanitarian angle Certainly, We'll say...Indian Railway Cares...

Thanks to IRCTC and Air India those who have came across to an agreement that passengers having unconfirmed tickets of Rajdhani Express, may be offered an Air India Flight within 24 hour if they opt for it. 

The passengers having unconfirmed ticket of AC First Class of Rajdhani won't be charged extra under this arrangement. However, passengers of AC II and AC III will have to pay an extra cost apart from the fare paid by them for their train tickets and this would be around Rs 1500 to Rs 2000 respectively. More details can be checked out through IRCTC while processing for an Air Ticket. Though, at present this service can be availed in those routes only where the Airline has a service.

Nevertheless, this deal between IRCTC and Air India is said to be helpful for both Air India and IRCTC.
